Farhan Akhtar got emotional on the death of Milkha Singh

Mumbai: Actor Farhan Akhtar, who played the role of Milkha Singh in the film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, has condoled the death of the legendary Indian athlete, who died of Covid-19 at the age of 91. Died after a long battle with covid.

Farhan posted a picture on Instagram with Milkha, who was popularly known as ‘Flying Sikh’. Actor wrote an emotional note that he cannot believe that Milkha Singh is no more.

Farhan Akhtar wrote, “Dear Milkha Singh ji, a part of me still refuses to believe that you are no more. Maybe it’s the stubborn part that I inherited from you. That part when he is determined to do something, he never gives up.”

He wrote, “And the truth is you will live forever. Because you were a big-hearted, loving, warm, above ground man. You represented an idea. You represented a dream. You represented (to use your words) how hard work, honesty and determination can lift a person off their knees and touch the sky.”

Farhan said, “The great athlete touched everyone’s life. For those who know you as a father and a friend, it was a blessing. For those who didn’t, your story was an inspiration.” Humility was exemplified in the constant flow of inspiration and success. I love you with all my heart.”

Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a biographical sports drama based on the life of Milkha Singh.

Milkha Singh died at 11.30 pm at a local hospital in Chandigarh. According to a statement from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research on Friday, where he was being treated for complications related to covid.

He is survived by a son, golfer Jeev Milkha Singh and three daughters. Milkha’s wife Nirmal passed away six days ago on June 13. A former volleyball captain from India, she was 85 years old and was also affected by COVID and related complications.
