Student leader climbed on roof to commit self-immolation in MBPG
Student leaders created a lot of ruckus in MBPG College regarding the student union elections. During this, some student leaders climbed on the upper floor of the Principal’s room and started warning of self-immolation with petrol bottles, demanding to issue a written order for the election date.
In the midst of an uproar for about one and a half hours, an order was issued by the Registrar of Kumaon University, Dinesh Chandra, to hold the student union elections on December 24, on which the students walked down. On Wednesday, student leaders took out a procession alleging that they were misleading about the date despite the demand for elections.
After this, the principal climbed on the roof of the room and started raising slogans against the higher education minister. Then student leader Gaurav Sambhal, who climbed on the roof, threatened to commit suicide with a bottle of petrol, demanding a written order for the election date.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Principal in-charge Mahesh Kumar informed the police administration about the matter. On which many officers including City Magistrate Richa Singh, CO City Bhupendra Singh Dhoni, SO Pramod Pathak, Neeraj Bhakuni reached the spot and tried to convince the student leaders by talking to them.
But the student leaders remained adamant on the demand to issue a written order. To pacify the matter, an order was issued towards the university, which was torn by the student leaders, calling it fake. After which, on the persuasion of the in-charge principal, the students agreed to be leaders and came down from the roof on the condition of the police going out of the premises.
