Contract driver-conductors, who have been serving for decades in Uttarakhand Roadways, are expected to be permanent. The details of all contract driver-conductors from Dehradun Divisional Depot have reached the headquarters. There are five driver-conductors in this, whose service has been more than 20 years, but till now they were not regularized.
More than three thousand driver-conductors are employed in roadways. There are regular as well as special categories, contract and outsourced. There are some driver-conductors in this, who have been providing services to the roadways for years, but they have not been regularized yet. The demand for regularization of contracts and special driver-conductors has been going on for a long time.
Employees unions have reached the court regarding this, but regularization has not been done yet. This week, roadways sought details of contract driver-conductors from all depots. Two formats were sent in this.
The question was raised in the Vidhan Sabha regarding the regularization of employees working for ten years or more. In future, if the government makes a policy regarding regularization of contractual employees, then data is being collected for that. This will give us an idea of how many driver-conductors we have for more than ten years and how many for less than ten years.
