Rudrapur: Udhamsinghnagar police arrested Navdeep Bhatia, the mastermind of Rudrapur fake degree gang. Taking him on remand, the police will go to the bottom of the matter. The SSP has given instructions to trace his property along with action under the Gangster Act.
Exposing in the police office on Friday afternoon, SSP Manju Nath TC told that on November 10, two members of the fake degree-making gang were arrested in Metropolis Colony. Kingpin Navdeep Bhatia’s son Gursharan Bhatia resident of Ward No. 7 Guldiya Bhindra Neuriya Pilibhit had fled from the spot.
Police was constantly raiding in search of Navdeep. Due to the possibility of his absconding abroad, a look out circular was also issued. On Thursday evening Navdeep was arrested by the police near Sanjay Van. SSP Manjunath said immense wealth has been collected by Navdeep through fake degrees. His assets are being traced. Gangster action will also be taken against him.
The business of making fake degree-diplomas, mark sheets and certificates was going on in flat number two of Tower H-9 of Metropolis since October last year. The leader of the gang is Navdeep Bhatia, a resident of Rudrapur Awas Vikas, who runs a computer shop named Keerat Trading Company. He hired two Gaurav Chand r/o Chunabhatta police station Banbasa (Champawat) and Ajay Kumar r/o Rajeev Nagar, Doiwala (Dehradun) to make fake degree-diplomas.
Both were arrested on the night of last 10 November. Navdeep had made arrangements for both of them to stay and eat in a flat in Metropolis. At the same time, both the youths used to make fake degree-diplomas, mark sheets and certificates. The SSP said that when there was a case of going abroad, the responsibility of verifying the documents of the accused William Carey University was also taken for the greed of huge amount.
The names of two William Carey University employees Gaurav Aggarwal and Jitendra alias Sukhpal Sharma have also come up in this case. The police have registered a report against all the six accused under sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 474 and 120B of the IPC. In search of Navdeep, the police team raided his house but he was absconding.
Responsibility for verification of degree for those going abroad
Fake degrees and diplomas were made in the name of providing employment to the youth in private institutions, factories and companies. For such degree-diploma, the accused used to take 15 to 20 thousand per degree diploma from the youth. The fraudsters used to forbid the youth to use these degrees and diplomas in government work. If a youth used to talk about going abroad for a job, then after taking a hefty amount, the accused would also take the responsibility of verifying the documents of William Carey University.
3D hologram and barcode in degree-diploma
Fake degree-diplomas, marksheets and certificates were equipped with 3D holograms, barcodes and QR codes. For the youth going abroad, this barcode was scanned and also showed the name of the student. These degree-diplomas were made with high quality printers.
Future of more than one thousand youth is at stake
During interrogation, accused Gaurav and Ajay told that this business of Navdeep is going on since one year. Police say that these people have so far given fake degree-diploma to more than a thousand youth and their future is at stake.
