After the implementation of the civil service pattern of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in Uttarakhand, there will be many major changes in the PCS main examination.
On the one hand, where the candidates will have to give nine papers instead of seven, on the other hand, they will also get the freedom to choose a favorite subject. If the pattern of UPSC is implemented exactly then English will become compulsory.
UPSC introduced qualifying C-SAT paper in the Civil Services Pre-Examination, which was also qualifying in state PCS exam from last year itself.

That is, only passing marks will have to be brought in these papers. There will be two qualifying papers in the main examination also, whose marks will not be added to the merit list.
Till now, according to the state pattern, the marks of all the seven papers used to be added to the merit, but in the new pattern there will be nine papers, out of which only the marks of seven will be added to the merit.
RA Khan, director of examination expert Prayag IAS Academy, says that if the commission replaces English with Hindi and includes any other local language paper, it can be better for the youth here.
However, he said that surely by implementing the Civil Services Exam pattern, the youth will be freed from preparing separately for two different exams. They will also get the option to take the exam in their preferred subject.
