Haldwani: Like the capital Dehradun, the city of Haldwani will be identified by Clock Tower (Ghantaghar). There is a plan to set up a bell tower with a life-size statue of Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant at Pandit GB Pant Park in Tikonia. The initial budget proposal of 1.28 crores will be kept in the upcoming board meeting of the Municipal Corporation. There is a plan to keep the park open, so that every visitor can see the grandeur of the park.
For the first time, the board meeting will be held at the community hall of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Park, Damuvadhunga, away from the Municipal Corporation building. The agenda of the proposed meeting on November 22 was released on Wednesday. 12 proposals including six special proposals will be brought to the board. The estimated budget for the financial year 2022-23 will be brought to the Board for approval.
Central and non-central service personnel, pensioners working in Municipal Corporation Haldwani will be considered for inclusion in Ayushman Yojana as per GO. There is a plan to extend the period for submission of trade license without late fee till December 31. The term of the executive committee ends on December 1.
There will be a brainstorm regarding the selection of new members in the board meeting. A proposal to release one crore funds for the City Forest to be built at a cost of Rs 4.52 crore will also come before the board. The board will also take a decision to release Rs 40 lakh against the estimate of Rs 67 lakh received from the police department to curb criminal incidents in the city. There will be a presentation of the GIS based master plan for setting up a public meeting center at Sheeshmahal at a cost of Rs 1.70 crore.
Preparation for permit from energy corporation
Municipal Corporation is in the process of bringing a proposal to the board to collect permit from the Energy Corporation instead of installing electricity poles, transformers etc. on its land. A Municipal Corporation source said that an agreement can be reached on waiving off the cess on allowing street lights to be lit free of cost in the city. Due to burning of street lights in the city, the Municipal Corporation is facing an expenditure of crores. The previous board had approved charging Rs 50 per month from HPCL for gas pipe line connection.
