Uttarakhand Berojgar Sangh (Unemployed Union) has called for state bandh on Friday to protest against lathi charge on unemployed and students who were protesting peacefully on Wednesday night and Thursday at Gandhi Park. In view of this, the police is already on alert mode. Police force is deployed in large numbers in Buddha Park of Haldwani.
In protest against the lathicharge in Dehradun, the youth in Hldwani have started reciting the Gita. On the other hand, the Youth Congress protested by burning the effigy of the CM. Unemployed youth entered the DM office in the capital Dehradun. Shouting slogans against the DM, the youth started the protest. Police converted the office compound into a cantonment.
CO Bhupendra Singh Dhoni told that due to the protest against the Agneepath scheme in the past, the police had already planned to deploy the force. Union President Bobby Panwar said that the unemployed and students from all over the state were doing satyagraha for their legitimate demands. But, the vandalism done by the police with the youth on Wednesday night and again on Thursday, there is resentment in the entire state. The CO said that the need to call the police force from outside the district was not yet seen. The market is opening as before. The closure has no effect on the market at the moment.
In view of the possible movement of unemployed youth, the district administration has imposed section 144 (prohibitory orders) in the radius of 300 meters of the Dehradun parade ground. This will continue till Friday evening. There will be a ban on the gathering of five or more people in this perimeter. A case will be registered against those who violate it.
District Magistrate Sonika said that this prohibitory order has been implemented on the basis of the police report. According to this, there is a possibility of gathering of unemployed and their guardians in Dehradun on Friday. Therefore, difficulties may have to be faced in maintaining law and order. In such a situation, this step has been taken as a precaution. During this time no person can bring sticks, sticks, guns, hockey sticks, swords etc. in this perimeter.
Ban on carrying arms or sticks will not apply to government servants on duty, elderly and sick people (for whom sticks are necessary).
