Hurdle of land has been removed from the way of Metro Neo project. Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has agreed to give its land near ISBT at market rate. After passing the resolution in the board meeting, a consent letter has been sent to Additional Chief Secretary Urban Development. Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UKMRC) has also been informed about this.
Dehradun Metro Rail Project is included in the ambitious projects of the Central and State Government. UKMRC had prepared its proposal. After getting the seal from the state government, it has been sent to the center. This project is worth about 1600 crores. Initially, MDDA refused to give its land for the proposed route from ISBT to Ghantaghar.
But in the recently held board meeting, considering the usefulness of the project, it was decided that 14645.48 square meters of MDDA land located near ISBT would be provided at the market rate. MDDA Superintending Engineer Harishchandra Singh said that a detailed proposal has been prepared in this regard.
ISBT to Ghantaghar
This route will be eight and a half km. Stations will be built at ISBT, Sewla Kalan, ITI, Lal Pul, Chamanpuri, Patharibagh, Railway Station, Kachari, Ghantaghar and Gandhi Park. For this route, 1.58 hectare government and 1.18 hectare private land is to be acquired. By the year 2026, 88 thousand 215 people will travel daily on this route. By 2041 this number is likely to reach one lakh 20 thousand 337 and by 2051 it is likely to reach one lakh 47 thousand 302.
FRI to Raipur
This route will be 13.9 km long and will have 15 stations. These include FRI, Ballupur, IMA Blood Band, Doon School, Malhotra Bazar, Ghantaghar, CCMC, Araghar Chowk, Nehru Colony, Vidhansabha, Upper Badrish Colony, Upper Natthanpur, Ordnance Factory, Hathikhana Chowk, Raipur.
This route requires acquisition of 5.08 hectares of government and 1.38 hectares of private land. During the construction work, about eight thousand square meters of space is needed temporarily. By the year 2026, 92 thousand 679, by 2051 one lakh 48 thousand 190 passengers will travel daily on this route.
Know about Metro Neo
Metro Neo is a Rail Guided System. It consists of electric coaches with rubber tyres. These coaches are made of steel or aluminium. It has so much power backup that it can run up to 20 km even in case of power failure. Its track is prepared by fencing or building a wall on the sides of normal roads.
It will have an automatic train protection system which will keep the speed limit under control. The ticketing system will be through QR code or normal mobility card. The width of the track will be eight meters. Where it will stop, there will be a side platform of 1.1 meters. This speed will be 70 km per hour.
90 to 225 people will be able to travel in coach
Metro Neo coaches will be of two types of lengths. A coach is 12 m long. Maximum 90 passengers will be able to travel in this. The second coach will be 24 to 25 meters long. 225 passengers will be able to travel in this. The width of the coach will be two and a half meters. The length of each station will be up to 60 metres.
About 307 trees will have to be cut
Although the track of Metro Neo will be completely elevated, but at some places some trees are coming on the route. It is being told that about 307 trees will be cut for Metro Neo.
The file of the project is currently in the Union Urban Development Ministry. Its permission has been received from its finance department. Now permission is yet to be obtained from other departments including the Union Finance Ministry. The procedures to be followed at the state level are being completed. MDDA has asked how much land is required for the project.
