At present, the road is completely closed for traffic due to landslides on the way. On the directions of the District Magistrate, the work was being done by the Lonivi with Pockland machine and JCB to open the road, but due to continuous coming of debris and boulders from the hill, the work was getting obstructed.
Mr. Garbyal instructed Sunil Dutt, assistant geoscientist of the landslide area, and Lonivi’s chief engineer to inspect the site and submit a report. It was informed by the inspection team in the report that in view of the condition of the hill, it would not be possible to open the road for traffic at present.
Works done under Disaster Management Act
On which the District Magistrate has given permission under the Disaster Management Act 2005 for surface leveling and debris cleaning work on the alternate route Vijaypur-Pahadpani.
The District Magistrate has directed the Forest Officer, Haldwani, to carry out surface leveling and debris cleaning of the Vijaypur-Pahadpani road, which has a total length of 9 km, constructed by the Forest Department, in order to bring the life and property of injured sick people to medical centers in emergency situations.
Instructions have been given to ensure permission, clearance for getting the work done. He said that due to the closure of the Haidakhan road, people were facing difficulties in commuting.
