Nainital: Time for the departure of monsoon is near, but there is no respite from the rains. Heavy rains are continuing in most of the districts of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heavy to very heavy rain for the hill districts of Garhwal and Kumaon for Friday and Saturday.
People need to be careful. Today, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain at isolated places in five districts. These include districts like Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag.
There is also an orange alert in these districts regarding lightning and flashing at some places. According to Meteorological Director Bikram Singh, the monsoon is once again in active condition in the state. Light to moderate rain occurred in almost all the districts of the state on Thursday. The rain will continue for the next few days. According to the Meteorological Department, three types of alerts have been issued simultaneously on Friday and Saturday.
There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at some places and very heavy rain at some places in the hilly districts. On 18 and 19 also, a yellow alert has been kept for light to moderate rain at isolated places in the hill districts. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in the state for the next two days. People have been asked to be vigilant about heavy rain, lightning.
Moderate landslides in sensitive areas, blockage of roads, highways in some places, erosion, increase in water level of rivers, drains due to rock fall in vulnerable areas during rains. The Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of loss of life and property due to lightning at some places.
