New Delhi: Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju hit out at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leadership, saying he do not understand why Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and “his gang” hate Hindus and Hindutva so much.
He made the remarks when he was embroiled in a controversy after a video surfaced of Delhi government minister Rajendra Pal Gautam purportedly participating in a ‘conversion programme’. In the video that went viral on Friday, thousands of attendees can be heard taking a pledge to convert to Buddhism and condemning Hindu gods and goddesses.
Targeting Kejriwal by tweeting
Kiren said in a series of tweets on Friday night and Saturday morning, “I really don’t understand why Arvind Kejriwal and his gang hate Hindu and Hindutva so much? I can understand about Rahul Gandhi but Arvind Kejriwal….
Rijiju, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Arunachal Pradesh said that every Indian should follow the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’. With the video of the AAP leader coming out, the BJP attacked the Delhi Chief Minister and demanded that Gautam should be sacked from the cabinet.
Gautam, however, issued a statement saying that he is a “very religious person and cannot criticize/condemn any deity even in his dreams with his deeds and words.” There was no official reaction from AAP or the Delhi government. But AAP sources claimed that the chief minister was “extremely unhappy” with Social Welfare Minister Gautam over the issue.
