Union Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan embarked embarking on a three day visit to Singapore in order to promote collaboration and cooperation in the fields of education and skill development. The Union Minister of Education and Skill Development will be focusing on strengthening the ties between both India and Singapore in these respective fields.
According to the official statement released by the Ministry of Education and MSDE, the minister will be interacting with the key ministers of the Singaporean Government, including Deputy PM and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong and Education Minister Chan Chun Sing.

The education minister will also hold meetings with Indian diaspora and Odia community in Singapore as well as with alumni from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
During his visit, the minister is also scheduled to visit the Singapore Spectra Secondary School, Nanyang Technological University, Institute of Technical Education and Educational Services and Singapore University of Technology & Design. Additionally, he will engage in discussions with Skills Future Singapore (SSG), a government agency in Singapore responsible for implementing the Skills Future Movement.
India and Singapore have a long-standing partnership in skill development. One of the priority areas of the Education Working Group under India’s G20 Presidency also advocates for promoting long-term and life-long learning.
With the backdrop of G20 in India and the goals of the Education Working Group, India and Singapore are poised to further strengthen their robust partnership in the field of skill development. The visit of Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to Singapore will also place significant emphasis on the education sector.
As part of the third Education Working Group meeting that was held in Odisha’s Bhubaneshwar, representatives from India and Singapore had jointly conducted a workshop titled “Future of Work: Skill Architecture and Governance Models of India and Singapore.” This workshop was organised in collaboration with the Singaporean Ministry Dali of Education and Ministry of Trade and Industry.
