Beijing: At least 11 people have been killed in an iron mine flood in northern China’s Shanxi province.
Local officials said the flooding happened last Thursday and rescue efforts were still on. It was earlier reported that a total of 13 people were trapped in the accident.

Drainage work has been completed where the laborers were trapped, in which 11 laborers have been found dead.
Further rescue operations are on to search for two others in the soil and gravel more than 3 meters deep.

According to the county’s information office, at around 12:49 pm on Thursday, a well of an iron mine in Daixian County was flooded. shanxi iron mine
Rescue teams found a large number of fuses, detonators and explosives in the tunnel during the process of removing the bodies of the miners.
Explosive-disposal experts have been dispatched to guide the rescue operation, Xinhua news agency reported.
Incessant rain that started in the early hours of Wednesday has added to the difficulties of rescue work.
