Uttarakhand Weather: Before the departure of monsoon, heavy rains are once again increasing the problems. The Meteorological Department has issued forecast of heavy rain in the next 24 hours. Heavy rain may occur in many parts of the state today. In view of this, an orange alert has been issued.
Schools will also remain closed in eight districts today. Senior meteorologist Vikram Singh says that due to the moist winds coming from the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of heavy rains in some districts of Kumaon.
Along with the officials related to disaster management, people living in landslide prone areas will have to be alert. In view of the rain alert issued by the Meteorological Department, a holiday has been declared in schools in five districts of Kumaon on Friday.
According to the order issued by the Nainital, Champawat, Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh district administrations, all government, non-government schools and Anganwadi centers from class 1 to 12 will remain closed.
On the other hand, schools in Tehri, Pauri and Uttarkashi will also remain closed today. For the next three days, there is a possibility of moderate to light rain at some places in the plains along with the higher reaches of Kumaon and Garhwal region.
In view of the weather alert, people living on the banks of rivers, streams as well as people living in landslide prone areas need to be careful.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to moist winds coming from Bay of Bengal and Western Disturbance becoming active once again, there is possibility of heavy rain in Kumaon and Garhwal region.
In view of very heavy rains in Kumaon region, reports have been sent to the Government, Government and State Disaster Management Department.
