Uttarakhand Weather News: Incessant heavy rains have increased the incidents of landslides in mountainous areas, while waterlogging remains an problem in low-lying areas. Meanwhile, Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in six districts due to activation of cyclone in Madhya Pradesh.
Very heavy rain may occur in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Udhamsinghnagar, Haridwar in next 24 hours. In view of this, Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert. Along with heavy rain, there is possibility of lightning.
Meteorologists have predicted rain for three days from mountain to plain. In view of the possibilities of very heavy rains, meteorologists have asked government and district administration as well as the officials related to disaster management to remain alert.
Meteorologists said that with formation of low pressure area with activation of cyclone in Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand is expected to receive rain for three days from plain to mountain. After three days, there will be some relief from the rain as cyclone moves from Bihar side.
Meteorological Department has advised people living on the banks of rivers, streams as well as people living in landslide prone areas to be careful. On the other hand, roads are closed at many places in state due to heavy rains.
Landslide occurred on Tawaghat-Lipulekh road connecting the China border between Lakhanpur and Najang on Friday afternoon. Due to this road is again closed for traffic. Due to the closure of road, villages near China border have been cut off from rest of the world.
