Devotees coming on Chardham Yatra next year will be able to get all facilities under one roof in Rishikesh. The work of Tourist Transit Compound has been almost completed by the Department of Tourism. Under this, the offices of all the departments will be there. Along with this, there will be facility of fitness and lodging of vehicles during Chardham Yatra.
Devotees come in huge crowd
Rishikesh is the main stop of Chardham Yatra. Shri Hemkund Sahib Yatra also mainly starts from here. Therefore, every year lakhs of devotees reach the pilgrimage town.
Due to the large number of devotees, chaos also comes to the fore. That is why, the tourism department planned to build a tourist transit compound in Rishikesh.
District Tourism Officer Jaspal Chauhan said that this compound will have offices of all necessary departments including RTO office, control room, charging station, hospital, disaster control, registration counter. Due to this, passengers will not have to travel here and there.
Vehicle fitness and accommodation facilities
For Chardham Yatra, vehicles of various transport companies also operate from Rishikesh. In such a situation, before the Chardham Yatra, the vehicle owners have to make rounds of the RTO office for the fitness of the vehicle etc.
But, now having RTO office in the same compound will facilitate the vehicle owners. Along with this, proper arrangement for parking will also be made here and there will also be arrangement for dormitory for the stay of the passengers.
District Tourism Officer, Jaspal Chauhan informed that the target of setting up tourist transit compound is by December this year, which is almost complete. Now preparations are being made to start it before the journey.
