Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched “Mukhyamantri Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana” in program organized on the occasion of  National Sports Day at Police Line Grounds today. On this occasion, several announcements were also made by Chief Minister for up-gradation of players of the state.

CM Dhami said that in view of the shortage of coaches, 08-08 departmental sports coaches would be appointed in every district. CM Sports Development Fund will be set up to give financial benefits to the players, as well as the honorarium of the contract trainers of the Sports Department, Uttarakhand will be increased as per the honorarium payable to the contract trainers of the Sports Authority of India.

Malkhamb game will also be included in the sports policy. Efforts will be made to re-implement 4 percent reservation for skilled sportspersons in state services as before. While addressing the program, Shri Dhami said that today is the birthday of Major Dhyanchand ji and on this day we are starting Mukhyamantri Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana in the state. Under this scheme, sports scholarship of ₹ 1500 per month will be given to budding sportspersons in the age group of 8 to 14 years.

3900 budding sportspersons will be given scholarship

A total of 3900 budding sportspersons, out of which 1950 boys and 1950 girls will be given sports scholarships. In the sports policy, about 100 percent increase has been made in the prize money payable earlier to the players for earning medals at the national and international level and the amount for the coaches has also been increased.

State sports awards like Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna, Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Dronacharya Awards as well as Himalaya Ratna Khel Award are also being given. Arrangements have been made for out-of-turn appointments for providing government jobs to the players in the state.
