Rishikesh: Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project will prove to be the milestone in development of Uttarakhand. Construction of rail project being built at cost of about 16,216 crores will be completed by 31 December 2024. This information was given by Rail Vikas Nigam officials in response to an RTI.
Kashipur resident RTI activist Nadeemuddin had sought information from Ministry of Railways regarding new railway lines of Uttarakhand. In response, the Public Information Officer of Chief Project Manager, Rail Vikas Nigam informed that construction work of 126 km long rail line project on Rishikesh-Karnprayag broad gauge is in progress.
Apart from this, the survey work of four other railway lines in Uttarakhand has also been completed. Under FLS work on Chardham Yatra route (Gangotri-Yamunotri) 122 km Doiwala-Uttarkashi-Barkot, (Kedarnath-Badrinath) Karnprayag-Saikot, Sonprayag 91 km, Saikot-Joshimath 86 km, Saikot to Pipalkoti 21 km Final location survey work has been completed.
Rishikesh Karnprayag Rail Network Length
Giving information about the Rishikesh-Karnprayag line, it was informed that out of the total length of 125.172 km, work of 5.770 km has been completed. Out of the 104 km length of the main tunnels, 24 km have been worked out. Whereas, out of the total length of 97.7 km of the Scape tunnels, 26 km has been completed. Out of the 12 proposed stations on this route, the work of one new station has been completed. The Rishikesh-Karnprayag line is divided into nine packages. The completion date of this project is 31 December 2024.

Explain that under the project, railway stations will be built at Yognagri Rishikesh, Shivpuri, Beasi, Devprayag, Janasu, Maletha, Srinagar, Dhari Devi, Tilani, Gholtir, Gauchar, Siwai-Karnprayag. During the construction, warehouses will be made by Rail Vikas Nigam along with the construction of railway stations at Srinagar Garhwal and Karnprayag.
