Tourists and pilgrims staying in hotels of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) will now be able to book through private apps as well. In the first phase, GMVN has entrusted the responsibility of booking one or two rooms of selected hotels to private app MakeMyTrip. For this an MoU was signed between GMVN and MakeMyTrip.
Till now tourists were able to book hotels offline or on the official website of the department. Vinod Goswami, Managing Director, GMVN said, “As a trial, the responsibility of booking one or two rooms in hotels of Jakholi, Rudraprayag, Ukhimath, Chamba, Barkot, Rishilok, Guptkashi etc. has been given to MakeMyTrip.

The purpose of signing the MoU with the company is to increase the income of GMVN. With the increase in income, employment will also increase. If this experiment is successful, further bookings of other hotels will also be given to MakeMyTrip. During this, General Manager (Administration) of GMVN Vipra Trivedi, General Manager (Tourism) Anil Singh Gabryal, Assistant Principal Manager Tourism Rakesh Saklani and other officers of the department and company were also present.
Tent colony pleasing to pilgrims on Chardham Yatra route
The small group coming for Chardham Yatra is very much liking the tent colony of GMVN. A tent colony has been set up by GMVN on the Yatra route at a cost of about six crore rupees. Special preparations have been made by GMVN for Chardham Yatra this year. Where on one side the tent colony has been developed on the yatra route.
At the same time, the department has renovated its hotels at a cost of about two crore rupees. So that the pilgrims and tourists staying in the hotels can get the facility of comfortable accommodation. However, tent colony is not being set up in case of heavy rain or snowfall.
GMVN Managing Director Vinod Goswami said, tents are being provided to small groups at the rate of Rs 2000 per tent. There is accommodation for four people in a tent. While 90 percent of the department’s hotels have been booked till June. It is being estimated from the booking figures that like last year, this year too record breaking pilgrims can come. Keeping this in mind, GMVN has developed tent colonies on the yatra route.
