Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the Joshimath region from January 23 to 27. In view of this, the government administration has also started its preparations. Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Ranjit Sinha told that four thousand houses are registered in Joshimath municipality area. While so far 849 houses have developed cracks.
838 people from 250 families have been accommodated in relief camps. While the administration has already made arrangements to accommodate 4400 people at safe places.
Related agencies will also work on Badrinath Highway
Secretary, Disaster Management Department agreed that there have been cracks at some places on the Badrinath Highway as well. In view of the Chardham Yatra, the roads here will already be repaired. For this, instructions have been given to the concerned agencies. Apart from this, work on drainage and retaining wall will be started soon by the Irrigation Department.
