Delegates from different countries across the globe have arrived in Goa for the 3rd Development Working Group meeting of G-20. The meeting is scheduled from today to 11th May.
India currently holds the Presidency of the G20. G-20 is an inter-governmental forum of the world’s 20 major developed and developing economies.
Akashvani correspondent reports, the G-20 meeting under India’s presidency has begun in Goa with a side event on Women-Led Development yesterday.
Panel discussions expressed the opinion that achieving gender equality & women-led development requires full participation of women in economic, social, cultural & political decision-making.
In a welcome address, Nagaraj Naidu, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs emphasized the need to build generational equality and said that we must unlock women’s full potential through a women-led development approach.
The event was organized by the G20 Secretariat in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
The three days G-20 meeting under Indian presidency will continue till 11th May which will include panel discussions and exhibitions of various developmental aspects focusing on women-led development approach.
