Lucknow police started action late Friday against Coronavirus positive Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor who came to India from London. Due to a major lapse of health department, she attended several functions in Lucknow. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) lodged a case at Sarojini Nagar police station at 11:22 pm saying that Kanika violated the instructions of Home Quarantine. But a wrong FIR was filed in a hurry. The government-administration itself is under the question of shocking claim of CMO who filed case. On the other hand, soon after omission was revealed, Lucknow commissioner Sujit Pandey said that during further investigation, the factual errors in FIR have been corrected.
In written complaint on which basis Sarojninagar police has filed a case, CMO has said that Kanika Kapoor had gone to London and had come to Lucknow on 14 March. On March 14, she was instructed to stay in home quarantine when Corona virus positive was found at Lucknow airport. However, she took part in many social gatherings in violation of instructions. Therefore, action should be taken against her under the Epidemic Act.
Lucknow Police have registered a case against Kanika under sections 188A, 269 and 270 of IPC on basis of this claim of CMO. Chief Medical Officer said that Kanika came on 14 March while people of Lucknow said that she reached Lucknow on 11 March itself. When saw to complaint letter after case registered, there was found a big lapse. Question arose that if Kanika Kapoor was found Coronavirus positive on March 14, then why was it revealed on March 20. Did the Lucknow administration sleep for five days?
Lucknow police commissioner Sujit Pandey said in a statement issued to media after FIR was surrounded by facts that Kanika came not on March 14 but on March 11. Whatever problems are there will be rectified. Commissioner Sujit Pandey may have made a mistake about Kanika Kapoor’s arrival date in Lucknow, but CMO’s claim that Kanika Kapoor was found corona positive at airport, while airport sources are saying that there may be a facility for thermal screening but there is no corona screening facility. In such a situation, the claim of CMO and severity of administration’s handling of this epidemic, is completely exposed.
