Pauri Garhwal: At least 30 people died in bus accident when bus going to attend the procession in Pauri Garhwal fell into gorge. As per reports, there were more than 40-50 people inside the bus.
Bus fell into 500-metre gorge at Rikhnikhal-Birokhal road in Pauri Garhwal district. There are reports of more than 40-50 people, including children, boarding the bus. State police said that 20 people have been rescued so far and the rescue operation is still on. It is believed that this bus was bringing the bridesmaids from the wedding.
Uttarakhand Police said in tweet, according to the information received so far, 25 people have died in bus accident in Pauri Garhwal district. 20 people have been rescued and sent to hospital, some of whom are seriously injured. These figures of death are of night, but according to the report till date, 30 people have lost their lives in this accident.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had asked the State Disaster Management Center to continuously monitor the situation. “Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were mobilized to the accident site. We are trying our best to bring all the facilities to the accident site. Local villagers are helping in the rescue operation.”
The incident happened on a day when a group of trainee climbers were hit by an avalanche. At least four people have died so far.
