An Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed in Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh this morning. According to the information, two pilots of the Indian Army were flying Cheetah helicopter. Official release from the Army, one of the two pilots martyred by serious injuries while other is undergoing treatment.
The incident took place at around 10:00 am on October 5, about 65 km from Tawang district headquarters. Accident site has been reported in Lungala area of Arunachal Pradesh. As of now, there is no information about the cause of accident, be it inclement weather conditions or technical problem with helicopter.
An Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter, flying in the forward area near Tawang, crashed during routine flight on October 05 (today) at around 10:00 am, read press release by the Indian Army. Both pilots were taken to the nearest military hospital.
We regret to inform that one of these pilots, Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was seriously injured, succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Second pilot is undergoing treatment. Cause of accident is not known at this stage.
