Lucknow: Newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh Mukul Goel took over as the head of the state police department on Friday. He said that the priority is to further strengthen the law and order. The priority of the police is to make everyone feel safe. Crime control is not possible without the help of the public. The police will have to become more sensitive and go to the public.

Talking to reporters at the DGP headquarters, Mukul Goel said that after five years, I have come to Lucknow. New DGP of Uttar Pradesh said that, sometimes ignoring small crimes leads to big incidents. Policemen will also have to be more sensitive and give a message of action in every small incident.
“I would like the officers to go to the field and review the hearing and action taken by the victims at the police station level,” he said.
DGP Mukul Goel said that maintaining law and order is the challenge. He also called for special emphasis on greater inclusion of technology in policing.
Mukul Goyal said on the famous Bikaru case of Kanpur that such a big incident happened due to some small mistakes. For many years there was an nexus between criminals and some policemen, which was not properly looked after.
Earlier on Friday morning, newly appointed DGP Mukul Goel reached Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow from New Delhi. He reached Hanuman Setu temple directly from the airport. There he went to Lok Bhavan after worshiping. There he met with CM Yogi Adityanath for about half an hour.
After that he left for Signature Building. After retiring on June 30, Hitesh Chandra Awasthi handed over the charge of DGP to ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar.
