New Delhi: India’s capital missed out on hosting the Men’s World Boxing Championship 2021. The Indian Boxing Federation (BFI) was unable to pay the hosting fees due to which the tournament went out of India’s hands.
The shocking thing is that on one hand, Modi government has made 50 top willful defaulters including fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi 68,607 crore waived Did it. At the same time, India missed big opportunity to host the World Boxing Championship-2021 due to not paying a small fee.
The International Boxers Association (AIB) has said that India will now have to pay a cancellation fee of $ 500,000.
The International Boxers Association (AIB) said in a statement, “New Delhi has not received the hosting due to non-payment of fixed hosting fees as per the rules regarding the host city. So now India has to pay a cancellation fee of 5 lakh dollars.”
The tournament is now hosted by Belgrade in Serbia. Indian Boxing Federation (BFI) President Mohammad Mustahasen has said that the championship will be held after next year’s Tokyo Olympic Games.
Mustahsen said, “Due to the rescheduling of the Olympics, the Executive Committee of AIBA will discuss possible dates with the host country.”
He added, “We hope that if the situation regarding the coronavirus remains controlled then we will organize the World Championship after the Olympic Games. The sooner the dates are set, the boxers will benefit from it. ”
