New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in many parts of India for the next five days. An orange alert has been issued for Kerala, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of water logging, traffic disruption, landslides etc.
According to the Meteorological Department, widespread or moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Sunday and Monday. Similar weather is very likely to prevail over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during the next five days. Today very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh and also in Assam and Meghalaya.
Heavy or moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh till tomorrow and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. Similar conditions are likely to prevail in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during this period.
Isolated to very heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand today. The Meteorological Department has also predicted widespread rain over North Interior Karnataka, Telangana and Rayalaseema between August 28 and 30. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe and Coastal Karnataka are also likely to receive widespread rainfall over the next few days. “Very heavy rains are also likely over Kerala and Mahe on August 28,” the IMD said.
