New Delhi: India recorded 317532 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours, which is almost 12 percent more than the previous day.
On Wednesday, 282970 new Covid cases were reported in India, an increase of over 18 per cent from the previous day’s count. On Tuesday, 238018 new infections were registered.
A total of 491 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours on Thursday, taking the death toll to 487693. The active figure has gone up to 1924051 which is 5.03 percent of the total positive cases in the country.
The nationwide number of Omicron infections has risen to 9287, an increase of 3.63 per cent since Wednesday. With 223990 patients getting cured in the last 24 hours, the cumulative number has increased to 35807029. India’s recovery rate is 93.69 percent.
A total of 1935180 tests were conducted across the country. India has conducted over 70.93 crore cumulative tests so far. Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate has reached 16.06 percent amid a sudden spike in cases.
The daily positivity rate has come down to 16.41 percent. With the administration of more than 73 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID vaccination coverage has reached 159.67 crore as of Thursday morning.
According to the Health Ministry, more than 12.72 crore remaining and unused COVID vaccine doses are still available with the states and union territories as of Thursday morning.
