Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today inaugurated the 200th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Dayanand Saraswati in New Delhi.
On the occasion, Mr Dhankhar released postage stamp on the founder of Arya Samaj in the presence of Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan, Members of Parliament Dr Satya Pal Singh, Sumedhanand Saraswati and spiritual leaders Swami Ramdev and Swami Chidanand Saraswati.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Dhankhar said, India has been a country of saints and sages since ancient times. He said, many great spiritual leaders, saints and social reformers have been born in this country and Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s name is prominent among them.
The Vice President said, Swami Dayanand Saraswati is in the heart of the people because of his great personality. He said, today is an important day in the history of India as on this day 148 years ago, Swami Dayanand Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj in Mumbai.
The Vice President said, celebration of the 200th birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati is a picture of changing India.
He said, it is a very pleasant change as our history is being fully displayed. Mr Dhankhar said, there was a time, when it seemed that we do not have great men at all and naming of institutions had become very limited.
