Saudi Arabia today evacuated a total of 1687 people from Sudan, including its own citizens and nationals of 58 other countries. The evacuees, who included 13 Saudis, arrived in Jeddah. The Foreign Ministry in a statement said among the evacuees were people from the US, the UK, France, Syria, the Netherlands, Iraq, Turkey, Tanzania, Germany, Sweden, Lebanon, Oman, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Thailand, India, and Libya.
The Foreign Ministry also said, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will continue its efforts and offer assistance to ensure the safe evacuation of foreign nationals to their destinations. The total number of people evacuated from Sudan by Saudi Arabia has reached 2148, including 114 Saudis and 2034 individuals from 62 different nationalities.
The Muslim World League (MWL) has commended Saudi Arabia for its significant humanitarian and diplomatic role in handling the crisis in Sudan, particularly for the successful evacuation of nationals from various Islamic and friendly countries, including diplomats, officials, and workers of international organizations. The conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has been ongoing for over a week, resulting in more than 400 casualties and over 3,500 injuries since April 15.
