Varanasi: In the Gyanvapi Masjid-Shringar Gauri controversial case, carbon dating will be done to find out the age of Shivling. Varanasi court will pronounce its verdict on the matter on October 11. However, most questions are being raised in this matter regarding carbon dating. A petition has been filed in the court regarding this, on which the court has postponed the decision to be pronounced today.
Carbon Dating important for Gyanvapi Case
This is the method by which information about the age of a related object can be obtained. The process of this usually used to find out the age of old things which is very useful for Gyanvapi Masjid-Shringar Gauri controversial case. Through this process, information about the approximate age of wood, charcoal, seed, spore, pollen, bone, leather, hair, fur, horn, blood remains, stone, soil etc. can be obtained. Carbon dating gives information about the age of organic remains such as corals, rocks, utensils, wall paintings, etc.
Method of Carbon Dating
Method of cd requires a total of 14 carbons. In this the ratio between carbon 12 and 14 is extracted. Explain that when an organism dies, its exchange in carbon stops. When plants and animals die, the ratio of carbon 12 to carbon 14 begins to change. When scientists measure this change, it gives an idea of the possible age of the organism.
According to scientists, carbon 12 is stable. Its quantity does not decrease. Carbon 14 is radioactive, with a drop in carbon content. Explain that it takes about 5,730 years for carbon 14 to reduce to half its volume. Indirect methods can be used to obtain information through carbon dating.
Discovered in year 1949
According to the information, carbon dating, which is called radio cd, was discovered in the year 1949. Williard Libby of the University of Chicago was awarded the Nobel Prize for this discovery. Although this process is still widely used today, questions have been raised about its accuracy.
