BWF World Championships: Arjun-Kapila reach pre-quarters

Tokyo. Indian men’s doubles team MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the BWF World Championship but were knocked out in the women’s section by Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy.

The unseeded pair of Arjun and Kapila beat Denmark’s eighth seeded Kim Astroup and Anders Skarup Rasmussen by 21. 17, 21 . beat 16.

Ashwini-Sikki pair lost

They will now face Singapore’s Yong Terry and Loh Keen Heen. Ponnappa and Sikki were defeated by top seeds Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan of China in 42 minutes. 15, 21 . Won 10. The pair of Pooja Dandu and Sanjana Santosh also lost to third seed Korea’s Lee So Hee and Shin Seung-chan.

In the evening, HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth will challenge in men’s singles while Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in men’s doubles and Trisa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand in women’s doubles.
