Gujarat ATS raids factory, seized ban drugs worth Rs 500 crore

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has seized banned MD drug worth around Rs 500 crore in a raid at a manufacturing unit located on the outskirts of Vadodara city in the election season.

ATS official shared this information on Wednesday. He told that during the raid on a small factory and godown near Vadodara on Tuesday night, the ATS also arrested five people.

According to the official, preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were manufacturing MD drug under the guise of manufacturing legal chemicals, which fall under the category of narcotics. The officer said that the operation is on to bust the entire gang.

In August also seized 200 kg of mephedrone

However, he did not give further details. Officials had earlier informed that the ATS had seized 200 kg of mephedrone, estimated to be worth around Rs 1,000 crore, from a factory near Vadodara city in August this year.

This action of Gujarat ATS has come at a time when voting is to be held for the first phase in the state on December 1. Gujarat has elections in two phases on December 1 and December 5.

The results of Gujarat assembly elections will come on December 8 along with Himachal Pradesh. For the last 27 years, the BJP has been in power in Gujarat, but this time with the strong entry of the Aam Aadmi Party, the contest is expected to be triangular.
