New Delhi / Bhopal – The Election Commission has canceled the transfers of the joint and deputy collector of the 12 by-elections in Madhya Pradesh. As soon as the Commission came to know that the transfer orders have been issued after the implementation of the Code of Conduct in view of the byelection in the state, the order to cancel the order was issued immediately.
The Commission had a detailed discussion with the Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh before taking this decision. The Commission has also decided that if there is a need to fill any vacant post in the districts of the state elections immediately, the panel of the names of the appropriate officers will be ready so that the deployment is done as per the need and there is no harm in the election work. After the matter comes to the notice of the Election Commission, the Commission has directed the state government to cancel the transfer with immediate effect. With this, the Election Commission has said that during the model code of conduct, officers cannot be transferred without the advice or permission of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state.
