Bhuj: Police have arrested accused wanted in connection with murder in Madhapur village of Kutch district of Gujarat. Communal tension had arisen due to this incident. Officials gave this information on Saturday.
Officials said that heavy police force has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident. Madhapur is located only four kilometers away from the ‘Smriti Van’ memorial built for those who lost their lives in the earthquake. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate this memorial on Sunday.
People were outraged by murder
In Madhapur, on Friday, people of one community attacked and ransacked a place of worship and shops belonging to another community. Police had said that the people of the Rabari community of Madhapur on the outskirts of Bhuj were agitated over the murder of a youth named Paresh Rabari, who was allegedly attacked by a person named Suleman Sana with a sharp weapon after a quarrel on Friday morning.
Madhapur police station inspector Karan Singh Vihol said, “We caught Suleman Sana on Friday evening and he will be arrested after interrogation. The situation is peaceful since the accused was taken into custody by the police.”
People from the Rabari community had protested outside the hospital and refused to accept Paresh’s body till the accused was arrested. They took the body after Sana was taken into custody. On Friday evening, while returning from Paresh’s funeral, an angry mob ransacked shops and places of worship. The brother of the deceased had lodged an FIR at Madhapur police station on Friday afternoon.
