Viral Video: Man clashed with police over vehicle checking dispute, police shot in front of the crowd & moving road?

Mohali: A video of Punjab Police is becoming very viral on social media. In this video, an unarmed man was shot in the thigh during a scuffle between the police and the public. The incident was caught on camera after which the police officer was suspended.

The incident is from Dera Bassi area of ​​Mohali on Sunday. A case has been registered against the accused Sub Inspector Balwinder Singh on Tuesday.

In the video that went viral on social media, some people were seen getting into a scuffle with the police officer. Meanwhile, the officer fires with his service revolver.

The injured person has been identified as 24-year-old Hitesh Kumar. He was admitted to a hospital in Chandigarh.

 


The police officer has been booked under sections 324 (assault) and 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) among other charges.

The scuffle took place at a post in Dera Bassi. After the incident, a group of people also vandalized the police vehicle on Sunday.

The incident took place when a police patrol team stopped a couple on a two-wheeler for checking. An altercation broke out between the couple and the police officer. The couple also called their relatives and a scuffle broke out.

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vivek Sheel Soni has also ordered departmental action against three policemen present on the spot.

Mohali Police issued a statement saying, “A sub-inspector, who was conducting routine checks with the police team, was manhandled by some people during the night in which a person named Hitesh Kumar was shot in the leg.”
