A Parliamentary panel has observed that the government has achieved only around 52 per cent of the projected target during the last four years under the second phase of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicle, FAME, scheme.
The committee headed by Tiruchi Siva has reported that the government had set a target of manufacturing more than 15 lakh 62 thousand Hybrid and Electrical Vehicles under the scheme in five years. However, only about 8 lakh hybrid and electric vehicles have been manufactured under the scheme till 31st December last year. The panel has emphasized for preparation of a blueprint in consultation with the stakeholders to increase the sales of electric vehicles.
