Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to the immortal son of Ballia Mangal Pandey during the freedom struggle, on the occasion of ‘Ballia Sacrifice Day’ on Friday.
Chief Minister Yogi, who visited Ballia, remembered the indomitable courage of Mangal Pandey in the freedom struggle. He said, “The great revolutionary Mangal Pandey ji, who lit the spark of freedom in Barrackpore Cantonment against the British, was the red of the land of Ballia. I am overwhelmed to be here on his soil today on the occasion of ‘Ballia Sacrifice Day’. Tribute to him.”

Yogi also mentioned the contribution of the revolutionaries of Ballia in the war of independence. He said, “The ‘Quit India Movement’ called by the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, that movement had progressed in Ballia under the leadership of the great revolutionary Chittu Pandey. He also remembered the struggle of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar in foiling the conspiracy.
He said, “After the independence of the country, when some people had done the work of crushing the constitution and democracy of independent India, even then under the leadership of Jayaprakash Narayan ji, Ballia raised slogans. In that whole fight, the former Prime Minister, Mr. Chandrashekhar ji’s contribution is unforgettable.”

On the occasion of Ballia Sacrifice, Yogi while bowing to the immortal martyrs of Jung-e-Azadi said, “Emotional salute to all the revolutionaries on Ballia Sacrifice Day. On this day in the year 1942 under the leadership of the great revolutionary Chittu Pandey, the ray of ‘Swaraj’s sunrise’ shone in Ballia district. This historical event, a symbol of Indian valor, will continue to inspire all of us for the service of the nation.
During this, Yogi also participated in the Ballia sacrifice day program. He said that in the series of ‘Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav’, he is feeling overwhelmed by participating in the ‘Ballia Sacrifice Day celebrations’ organized in the Taposthali district Ballia of Maharishi Bhrigu, the land which added a unique chapter of revolution in the freedom movement.
Meanwhile, he also paid tribute at the statue of revolutionary Prince Bagh in Ballia Jail. He said, “Today on ‘Ballia Sacrifice Day’, he paid homage by garlanding the statue of the immortal revolutionary Prince Bagh in the District Jail of Kranti Bhoomi Ballia. The sacrifice of the brave sons of Maa Bharati is a great inspiration for all of us.
