Lucknow. Government of UP is now bringing new card for people of the state. This card can prove to be very beneficial. Central government has approved the scheme of issuing family welfare cards in Uttar Pradesh. This card will be 12 digit family identity card. This will help the Yogi Adityanath government to keep an eye on the benefits of government scheme received by families.
Portal will start soon for Family Welfare Card
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has approved the proposal to use Aadhaar authentication for issuance of IDs and their information. A portal for application of Facility ID is expected to be launched in the next two weeks.
What is the government’s plan?
The Family ID scheme was formulated with the objective of implementing the government’s ‘one job per family’ proposal to select families as a unit. A pilot project was run in Prayagraj using ration card data and the state government tried to map the beneficiaries within a family.
Planning department secretary Alok Kumar told TOI that, “There are 15 crore Aadhaar-validated ration card holders in Uttar Pradesh, who can be issued family ID cards immediately.” About 60 percent of the state is covered by ration cards.
Kumar said that under this program each family would be given an ID. However, at the moment it is voluntary and only those wishing to avail benefits under any government scheme will need to enroll for it. In the beginning we will be using the ration card information to collect information about the families along with the Aadhar card holders.
