But shortly before the end of the first half, Sweden scored in the 43rd minute to make the score 1-1.
Sweden suffered a major setback in extra time when Marcus Danielsson got a red card in the 99th minute and walked off the field.
After this Sweden’s team played with 10 players.
The match was progressing towards a penalty shootout but Artem Dovbik scored to give Ukraine a 2-1 lead.
Ukraine will face England in the quarter-finals on July 3 in Rome.
