Giving a fillip to the urban mobility in Nagpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Nagpur Metro on 21st August 2014. The construction work of the metro rail project started from 2015.
In this journey of 8 years from 2015 to 2022, Nagpur has witnessed longest metro rail project, Phase-1- which was dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11 of last year.
The Orange Line of 19 km and Aqua line of 18 km of Nagpur metro, now runs from north to south and east to west corridors of the Nagpur city giving relief to daily commuters from the Hustle bustle of road traffic.
While dedicating the Khapri to SitaBuildi stretch of metro project Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the environmental sustainability.
While fulfilling the demands of urban Nagpur metro will also reach at outer parts of the Nagpu , through its extension in Phase-II, which includes satellite towns like Butibori, Hingana and Pardi.
Metro Phase -II will be developed at the cost of more than 6,700 crore Rupees. Initiatives by Nagpur Metro, like smart card scheme, discounts in metro fare to students, discounts on weekends to passengers in metro fare, formation of little Woods to promote environment are giving comfortable experience of urban transport to all Nagpur citizens.
During 9 years of Narendra Modi government, the urban mobility infrastructure, thus have changed 360 degree.
