Ranchi: BJP Scheduled Tribe District Morcha President Jitram Munda was shot dead by criminals near a hotel in Palu under Ormanjhi police station area of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.
Munda was returning from an event. During this, the criminals riding on the bike opened fire on them. The criminals fled after shooting.
The BJP leader, who was injured in the firing, was hurriedly brought to Medanta Hospital in Ormanjhi where doctors declared him brought dead.
Mandal media in-charge Rajkishore Sahu is also injured in the incident. He is out of danger.
The number of criminals is said to be two. Even before this, a bullet had been fired on Jitram Munda.
BJP leaders were standing near Aryan Hotel burning an effigy of Congress working president Bandhu Tirkey in Ormanjhi.
Meanwhile, the unidentified criminals shot and fled. As soon as the information about the incident was received, Ormanjhi police reached the spot and investigated.
Rural SP Naushad Alam reached the spot as soon as he got information about the incident and questioned the people around him.
Along with this, CCTV footage installed nearby is also being scrutinized. After the firing incident, Ranchi Police is conducting raids from place to place. So far not a single criminal has been caught
In this regard, Rural SP Naushad Alam said that the entire matter is being thoroughly investigated.
He said that the culprits would be arrested soon. On the other hand, there is anger among BJP leaders due to this incident.
