Uttarakhand cabinet has approved the creation of 26 new posts of Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) in the state. These posts will be filled by direct recruitment as well as by promotion. In such a situation, where Tehsildars will get more opportunities for promotion, on the other hand, District Magistrates will also be relieved from VIP duty.
District Magistrates and Sub-District Magistrates in the state are unable to give time to their basic work due to being busy in VIP duty. In such a situation, the number of files in the Revenue Department is continuously increasing. With the Revenue Department getting 26 new SDMs, this problem will be solved to a great extent.

There will be speed in disposal of revenue promises. Apart from this, the decision to make all new cases online on the Revenue Court Management System (RCMS) has also been approved for speedy disposal of revenue cases. The old policy has been amended on the basis of computerization of the Revenue Department.
