Nainital: The Sampoornanand Telescope has completed 50 years of journey in the world famous Nainital Area. This 104 cm optical telescope golden jubilee program was organized in which Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand Gurmeet Singh, Lt Gen PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Sen.) participated.
Many scientists related to astronomy have participated in this program, during the same program, Governor also honored 50 former employees and officers who had served in Aris Nainital. On the second day of this three-day long program, the Governor, in his address, lauded the achievements of the institute over the years.
Governor Shri Gurmeet Singh while expressing gratitude, appreciation and thanks from the bottom of his heart to the scientists in the program organized at ARIES said that ARIES will set new records in the coming years. Scientists have played an important role in making India a world leader.
50 year old aries
Dr. Dipankar Banerjee, Director, ARIES, while highlighting the 50 years of ARIES’s golden achievements, first expressed his gratitude for the cooperation given by the Government of India and all other institutions. Said that with their contribution in the world stage, the Aries institution has got an opportunity to honor the retired scientists and personnel of the organization, which is unprecedented in itself.
Mr. Banerjee has led the organization’s activities such as; Star-clusters, Young star-forming regions, Spheres and Brown Dwarfs, Optical equivalents of Gamma-ray-bursts (GRBs), Study of supernovae and X-ray sources, Polarimetric study of open clusters, Star-forming region via video displayed from. He said that till now, 5 research papers have been published internationally and 400 research papers have been published at national level in the last decades from 104 cm Sampurnanand Telescope.
On this occasion, District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, Senior Scientist Retired Dr. BB Sanwal, Dr. Brijesh Kumar, Dr. Shashibhushan Pandey, Senior Superintendent of Police Pankaj Bhatt, Superintendent of Police Harbans Singh, Additional District Magistrate Shiv Charan Dwivedi, Deputy Collector Rahul Shah, Yogesh Singh along with Professors of Ariz. , scholars and personnel were present.
