Dehradun: Due to increasing cases of corona infection, schools in Uttarakhand were ordered to be closed till 22nd January on Sunday.
The Health Department said that the genome sequencing of samples of corona virus infected in Uttarakhand has been reported, 54 percent of the cases have been found in the Omicron form.
On Sunday, 2,682 new cases of Covid were reported in the state, out of which about half (1,331) cases were found in Dehradun district. 351 new cases were found in Haridwar district, 281 in Udham Singh Nagar district, 188 in Nainital and 159 in Pauri Garhwal.
As per the latest guidelines on COVID-19 issued by the Chief Secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu here, the curfew from 10 pm to 6 am has been maintained.
Orders have been given to keep Anganwadi centers and all educational institutions up to class 12th closed till January 22 in the state. Shopping malls and gyms will open at 50 per cent capacity, but swimming pools and water parks will remain closed till January 22.
According to the instructions of the Election Commission, political rallies and picketing will not be allowed in the state till January 22. Meetings can be held in closed rooms with a maximum capacity of 300 persons or 50 per cent of the auditorium’s capacity.
Meanwhile, State Director General of Health Dr. Trupti Bahuguna informed that the genome sequencing of samples of corona virus infected in Uttarakhand has been reported, 54 percent of the cases have been found to be Omicron form.
He informed that the genome sequencing of 2,255 samples infected with corona in the state was done in the Doon Medical College laboratory. He said that the test reports of 159 samples have been received, out of which 85 have been found in Omicron form.
Dr. Bahuguna said that the Omicron form is spreading rapidly everywhere in the world, but its effects are not visible much. However, he appealed to the people to exercise caution.
