This fast starts after about 4 o’clock in the morning before sunrise and ends after seeing the moon in the night. From rural women to modern women, the fast of Karva Chauth is observed with great devotion and enthusiasm.
Karva Chauth is not only a festival but it is a festival of sacred relationship between husband and wife. To say that the festival of Karva Chauth is a fast, but it is the best example of woman power and her abilities. Because a woman with her determination brings her husband’s life even from Yamraj, then what can she not do.
Story of Karva Chauth
The women observing the fast hear the story about Karva Chauth. Once Pandu’s son Arjuna went to a mountain named Nilgiri to do penance. Draupadi was very upset here. On not getting any news of him, he meditated on Lord Krishna and expressed his concern. Lord Krishna said, flowing, a similar question was once asked by Mother Parvati to Shankarji.
After worshiping the moon, food is taken after offering Ardhya. Karwas of gold, silver or clay are exchanged among themselves. Which increases mutual love. After worshiping, women bow to their mother-in-law and elders and take their blessings. Then Shankarji told Mother Parvati the fast of Karva Chauth.
Story of Brahmin
There was a Brahmin in ancient times. He had four boys and one beautiful girl. Once a girl was in the house. Then the fast of Karva Chauth was observed. He kept the fast lawfully. Been dehydrated all day. Didn’t eat or drink anything, but his four brothers were worried that the sister must be thirsty, hungry, but the sister will take water only after moonrise.
Brothers could not stay, they showed artificial moonrise to sister as soon as evening. A brother climbed a peepal tree with a sieve and lit a lamp and produced light through the sieve. Then the other brother gave a voice to the sister from below, look sister, the moon has come out. Take food after worshiping.
Sister took the food. Her husband died as soon as she took the food. Now she became sad and started moaning. Then Queen Indrani was leaving from there. His sorrow was not seen from them. The Brahmin girl grabbed his feet and asked the reason for his sorrow. Then Indrani told that you broke the fast of Karva Chauth without seeing the moon, hence got this trouble.
Now if you keep fasting for the whole year regularly, then your husband will be alive. When she fasted on Chauth as instructed by Indrani, she again became Saubhagyavati. Therefore, every woman should observe this fast for the longevity of her husband. Draupadi observed this fast and Arjuna returned safely after getting the desired results. Since then Hindu women observe Karva Chauth fast for their unbroken honey.
