Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi has condemned the comparison of non-violence promoter Emperor Samrat Ashoka with the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, clarifying that the author Dayaprakash Sinha, who says such a thing, there is no relation with BJP.
Sushil Modi tweeted that the BJP respects Samrat Ashoka, the glorious emperor of ancient India. The author (Dayaprakash Sinha) who made objectionable remarks on Emperor Ashoka has neither any relation with the BJP nor there is a need to give unnecessary weight to his statement. The BJP does not have a cultural cell at the national level.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Rajya Sabha member Sushil Modi said, “We strongly condemn any comparison of Emperor Ashoka with a cruel ruler like Aurangzeb”.
BJP MP said, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government had issued a postage stamp in his memory. We first celebrated the 2320th birth anniversary of Emperor Ashoka in a big way in 2015 and then the Bihar government declared a public holiday on his birth anniversary in April.
He reminded that on April 09 this year, the Bihar government gave a public holiday on the occasion of Emperor Ashoka Jayanti.
