In view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Maharashtra’s Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan held a review meeting with the authorities of government hospitals and medical colleges this afternoon. After the meeting, he said that 25 dedicated COVID hospitals have been operationalized across the state to primarily focus on treating critical patients.
Mr. Mahajan also said that five thousand beds are available across medical colleges for the treatment of COVID patients, More than 2,000 beds with ventilator facilities are also available besides 2,000 jumbo and 6,000 small oxygen cylinders. He added that all the medical colleges had participated in the mock drill conducted as per the instruction of the Central Government earlier this month.
The minister urged citizens to wear masks, especially those working in hospitals and medical colleges. While directing the hospital authorities to remain alert, Mr. Mahajan said vaccination and administration of booster dose, specially for senior citizens must be prioritized.
