Handwara Encounter: Colonel Ashutosh, Major Anuj and Sub Inspector Shakeel martyr

On the basis of intelligence, an army team along with Jammu and Kashmir Police surrounded the area and rescued all civilians.

It is said that the terrorists opened heavy fire on the rescue team while the hostages were being rescued.

Army officers Colonel Ashutosh Sharma, Major Anuj, two soldiers along with Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector Shakeel Qazi were martyred in the encounter on both sides.

Among the martyred security personnel, Commanding Officer of 21 Rashtriya Rifles, Colonel Ashutosh Sharma, Major Anuj Sood, Naik Rakesh, Lance Naik Dinesh along with Sub Inspector Shakeel Qazi of Jammu Kashmir Police were martyred.

Colonel Ashutosh Sharma has successfully completed several operations against the terrorists, but he lost his life in this encounter.
