State Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that to reduce the burden of heavy school bags of children in the schools, a way would be found out in consultation with all the education boards operating in the state. With this, the burden of children’s bags can be reduced.
Along with this, in order to reduce the stress of the school children, other activities can be done in the schools by fixing one day in a month as a bag free day. The Education Minister also gave instructions not to involve school children in processions-demonstrations and other activities other than the department.

A two-day national workshop on the implementation of NEP-2020 and enhancement of educational quality was organized by Uttarakhand Directorate of Academic Research and Training and SCERT in Dehradun on Wednesday. As the chief guest in the workshop, Education Minister Dr. Rawat said that in the last few years, the burden of school children’s bags has increased more than their weight.

Reducing this has become necessary for their all round development. He said that a new way will have to be found to reduce the burden of children’s school bags in consultation with the officials and educationists of all the education boards operating in the state. For this, selection of text books and note books can also be done by dividing the curriculum of the children according to quarterly and half-yearly.
Activities related to skill development should be done
The Education Minister said that many times children get bored of continuous studies, due to which they come under stress. To overcome this problem of theirs, by setting a bag free day in a month, on that day children can be made to do activities related to sports, debate competition, agricultural work, cultural programs as well as other skill development. .
He asked the departmental officers present in the workshop to include subjects based on Indian knowledge tradition in the curriculum under the National Education Policy-2020 and to prepare a text book named Hamari Virasat Pustak, so that the children can study at their district, state and national level. Agreement will be made for teaching sharing
The Education Minister told the education officers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Vidya Bharti and NEFA New Delhi in the workshop that Uttarakhand will also benefit from the presentation of the work done on NEP in their state. The Education Minister said that in the near future, teaching sharing agreements will be signed with various boards operating in the state, so that good teachers can be called for teaching work in each other’s board’s schools.
Keep school children away from processions and demonstrations
Education Minister Dr. Rawat said that in future school children should not be involved in processions, demonstrations and other activities other than the department. Teaching and learning will be done compulsorily for 220 days in the schools of the state, for this he instructed the officials to prepare a complete action plan before the start of the new academic session and make an educational calendar.
Workshops will also be organized in districts: Education Secretary
In the workshop, Secretary School Education Ravinath Raman said that workshops will be organized in the districts regarding NEP-2020 in the state. He said that NEP has been implemented in more than 4500 pre-primary schools and Anganwadi centers of the state, it will be gradually implemented in other classes as well.
